We know that generating news in real time can be a challenge—especially with limited resources. The use of generative AI tools to create news articles on local politics, sports scores, and the latest weather developments is growing rapidly. In the past, it took a team of journalists to produce a daily newspaper, but now the process can be automated and even personalized to each reader. The resulting content may be blaring headlines, late-breaking news, or an analysis of current events.
The purpose of the Late-Breaking Works (LBW) submission category is to provide a forum for presenting novel and substantive research results that were not ready for presentation by the standard abstract deadline. The LBW program is highly selective; only about six to ten LBWs will be selected for oral or poster presentation at the conference. LBW submissions must be original and should highlight significant and substantial research contributions that will stimulate discussion at the conference.
If your submission is accepted, you will be notified via email. Please be sure to check your email frequently, as this is the main method of communication we use with you. Accepted LBWs are published as CHI Extended Abstracts in the ACM Digital Library.
One LBW submission per author is permitted. If you are submitting a LBW and have a regular paper submission, please be aware that the two-submission rule applies—you cannot be included as a presenter in more than two abstracts. In addition, each LBW presenter must submit all required conflict-of-interest information.
