Current events are news stories about things that are happening right now. These articles can include interviews, opinions, narratives, investigative reporting and analysis. They may also provide a single perspective on an event. Magazines tend to be more broad in their coverage of news events, and may be useful when you need a quick overview of an event. Examples include: CQ Researcher (EBSCO), Time, and The Atlantic Monthly.
News sources are most likely to have up-to-the-minute information about an event. However, scholarly sources take longer to research and write, so they will often have less information about an event that is occurring now, but will be able to provide context and historical perspective. For example, see this article on the information cycle.
